During the last several days, I have been going through my studio and discovering all sorts of things that I no longer use or will use. All those projects I thought I was going to complete and new art techniques practiced. But alas!! My artistic journey continues to wind here and there and some of these things just sit on a shelf, gathering dust, calling out to be used. The spring cleaning bug has gotten me. I have piles to donate to charity, give away to friends, toss, and sell. For those of you interested in brass stencils, vintage beaded collars, paints, rubber stamps, and more....you will now find them listed in my Esty shop. I will list more as I have the time to do so.In the meantime, are you enjoying the birthing of Spring??? I live in California and the days have been absolutely gorgeous. The trees are ripe with their new leaves ready to burst forth, our garden is the meeting place of so many beautiful birds and my cymbidium orchids are in bloom already. I LOVE this time of year.
I thought you might enjoy this poem by Mary Oliver:
The Sun
Have you ever seen anything
in your life
more wonderful
than the way the sun,
every evening,
relaxed and easy,
floats toward the horizon
and into the clouds or the hills,
or the rumpled sea,
and is gone--
and how it slides again
out of the blackness,
every morning,
on the other side of the world,
like a red flower
streaming upward on its heavenly oils,
say, on a morning in early summer,
at its perfect imperial distance--
and have you ever felt for anything
such wild love --
do you think there is anywhere, in any language,
a word billowing enough
for the pleasure
that fills you,
as the sun
reaches out,
as it warms you
as you stand there, empty-handed--
or have you too
turned from this world--
or have you too
gone crazy
for power
for things?
I'm ready to let go of a lot of "things."........it is such a freeing, cleansing feeling.
I will also be letting go of not only physical things but also emotional "things" that just want to hang around like excess baggage gathering dust, no longer serving their initial purpose. Each piece of emotional baggage that I determine to no longer serve me in a positive way, that serves as a block to my growth, or hinders my potential to be the happiest I can be.....will be blessed and let go. Taking such an inventory of oneself can be the ultimate in Spring Cleaning and the birthing of your truer self!
Happy Spring Cleaning!

Yes, Spring is indeed in the air! When we returned home from Santa Fe, it was like it appeared while we were gone! I love it. All the new blooms and blossoms.

I must be going through some emotional spring cleaning of my own....I can relate to your post. Love the poem!
Beautiful poem- that's for the good vibes!
Diana~ As you know, I have been spring cleaning myself and the georgous weather we are having has been a real boost for mind, body & soul! Thank-you for sharing another beautiful expression of yourself! Big Hug! Stephani:)
Where do I sign up to unburden? :) I do love my treasures & seek yet more but, the storing, keep up with, FINDING THINGS WHEN I NEED THEM!!!!! Oh my these can be burdens. Good luck in your endeavors.
I've been doing the spring cleaning and packing dance the last month and a half. It helps that I'm moving the first of May, so I'm "forced" to go through everything :)
The poem was beautiful!
Hello Diana, You have a beautiful blog, and your work is stunning. I love the quotes from SARK and your kitty Misha is adorable. I just received my copy of STUDIOS from the editor. I am also in this publication, but in addition to loving your work and your studio I saw you are in San luis obispo. I love the central coast of California. I spent every summer growing up in Morro Bay. I think its one of the best places on earth!. So I just had to stop by and say hello.
Happy Creating,, gail
Spring cleaning?? oh my. Seems like any time I do a big clean out, I can never find where I put anything... There really is a method to my disorganized mess.
But I do like your idea of cleaning out the excess baggage. We all carry around so much....
Spring is definitely a cleansing time. A time for the ritual of renewal. Getting rid of old baggage is such a freeing experience. Here's to all of us finding a way to get rid of such baggage! Here's to a wonderful Spring.
I'm in the midst of my own spring cleaning but up to now it's revolved around finding more balance in my life and how I spend my time - making time for what's important and spending less of it on things that are not. You started that particular hamster running , btw , with your post re: Harmony. Thank you for that :)
The de-stash is in the air , but at this point just thinking 'bout it makes me tired , lol. Baby steps :)
Loved reading about you in Studios magazine. I just
knew you had your work at kati koos shop. I have know kati for many years and love her style. If and
when I get to San Francisco I always stop by to see what is new. Her newsletter is one of my favorites.
My studio is on page 42. I read every article and am
thrilled to see every one has a 'stash'.

There seems to be an abundance of spring cleaning going on! And it's always a good thing to bless others with items which you no longer need. Off to check out your shop to see what's new!
